One of the main demographic challenges facing the country is its aging population, to which the municipality of Antilla does not escape, and the process accentuated in recent years has created the need for multisectoral attention in favor of the elderly. The territory has been working on this dynamic since 2011, with the creation of municipal groups and the demographic observatory, led by Reynaldo Nápoles Ramírez, president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and Carlos Rivero Xique, its mayor.
So far this year until mid-November, the main topics discussed have been related to the mother and child program, and the actions to be taken to reduce teenage pregnancy, mainly by Health and Education.
The effectiveness in the attention to the infertile couple consultations, the completion of the grandfather's house, the progress of the housing program for mothers with 3 or more children, the attention to vulnerable communities and the employment program, were the most discussed topics.
The increase of capacities in children's circles is one of the municipality's strategic actions, and by 2024 it is planned to continue the construction of an educational institution of this type, as part of the educational complex located in the new Camilo Cienfuegos community.
